Hands-On Therapy

Registered Massage Therapy in Kingston, Ontario

Therapeutic and relaxation massage from a Registered Massage Therapist — to relieve pain, ease muscle tension, and support your recovery.

My Philosophy

A good massage doesn't have to be painful.

I believe the best massage is kind, tailored, and adaptable. I'll always ask what you want out of your massage and build your treatment around that. Of course, I also draw on my professional experience to make sure you get the most out of every session — whatever your goals are.

The techniques I use are evidence-based: Swedish massage, deep tissue, muscle energy techniques, conscious breathing, and more. Everything I do has a purpose, an intention, and experience behind it.

Kinds of Massage

  • Initial Treatment & Assessment — Ideal for first-time clients. An in-depth assessment that helps us tailor a personalized treatment plan together, followed by a 60-minute therapeutic massage treatment.
  • Therapeutic Massage — A gentle yet focused approach to restoring balance and easing persistent discomfort. This session prioritizes your nervous system's calm, facilitating healing through patient, soothing manual techniques.
  • Deep Tissue Massage — Targeting deeper musculoskeletal layers, this treatment addresses chronic tension and postural imbalances. We work systematically to release adhesions and improve soft tissue mobility with precision and care.
  • Sports Massage — Designed for active individuals, this clinical approach supports performance and injury prevention, focusing on enhancing range of motion and accelerating recovery through specific, goal-oriented techniques.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy involves assessing and treating the soft tissues of the body to optimize health, alleviate pain, and improve physical function. It does this by interacting with the muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems to decrease muscle tension, promote relaxation, and enhance the body's natural healing processes.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

Massage therapy interacts with both the physical and psychological aspects of a person. This combination allows it to provide a variety of benefits, such as injury rehabilitation, relieving muscle tension, dulling chronic pain, decreasing stress, improving posture, lowering blood pressure, and even improving sleep.

What can I expect during my first massage treatment?

During your first treatment we will go over your health history intake forms and establish your goals and preferences with your RMT. Your RMT will then leave the room to give you privacy to get onto the table and get comfortable. The RMT will knock before re-entering the room.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

No. We will only ever ask you to remove clothing as far as you feel comfortable. Our massage therapist has been trained to use sheets and blankets to establish physical boundaries between treatable and sensitive areas.

Some massage techniques can be delivered on a fully clothed client — just call or send us a message before your treatment and we can discuss this before you book.

Should I talk to the therapist during my massage?

There is no pressure to talk during the treatment. If conversation helps you relax, feel free. Your massage therapist will check in occasionally regarding pressure and comfort, or to talk you through a technique — yes or no responses are totally okay.

Please speak up if:

  • You're feeling hot or cold
  • You're in pain
  • You have questions, or you forgot to mention something important during the consultation

Does massage have to be painful to work?

No. While some deep tissue techniques can feel physically intense, they do not need to be painful to work. Effective massage therapy relies on controlled, gradual pressure that allows the nervous system and soft tissues of the body to relax and reset.

Pain can even lead to muscle guarding (protective muscle tightening), which can increase feelings of tightness and trigger points. Please talk to your therapist if you are experiencing pain during the massage.

Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?

Mild soreness similar to a workout is normal. A good therapist should adjust techniques based on your feedback to make sure the treatment is restorative without causing injury or excessive post-treatment muscle soreness.

Severe pain or bruising is not normal following a treatment. If this happens, please let us know and we can adjust how treatment is delivered during your next session.

What happens if I'm ticklish?

Just let your massage therapist know and they can adjust their techniques to use firm, slow pressure or avoid your ticklish spots entirely.

How often should I have massage treatments?

This depends on your goals, schedule, and preferences. Talk with your massage therapist to develop a treatment program that fits your lifestyle and physical requirements. Typical treatment plans involve treatment once every month, although this varies based on an individual client's treatment plan.
